Fire & Explosion Modeling

Fire Modeling

At Hazard Dynamics, we utilize advanced fire dynamics simulator (FDS) software and multi-physics computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to predict how fires initiate, grow, and spread. Our high-fidelity modeling characterizes critical variables such as heat release rates (HRR), flame geometry, radiative heat flux, and thermal runaway propagation between adjacent cells or packs. By simulating realistic failure scenarios under diverse environmental and ventilation conditions, we provide clients with the quantitative data necessary to optimize structural fire barriers, design highly targeted suppression systems, and ensure strict compliance with safety standards.

Explosion Modeling

Hazard Dynamics delivers advanced explosion modeling services to quantify and mitigate the devastating impact of vapor cloud explosions and gas deflagrations. Utilizing industry-standard FLACS software, we perform high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to track the accumulation of flammable gas mixtures and predict localized ignition behavior in complex geometries. Our analysis predicts peak overpressure generation, blast-wave propagation, and associated thermal hazards, such as radiant heat flux. By coupling these explosion metrics with rigorous structural analysis for blast loading, we evaluate the vulnerability of enclosures, facility walls, and nearby equipment, empowering engineers to design compliant deflagration venting and robust structural reinforcement that prevents catastrophic failure.
